Spectra/Chrom® Soft-Gel Chromatography Columns

Spectrum's soft-gel columns are similar to our standard aqueous and organic liquid chromatography columns, except that each soft-gel column includes 2 adjustable plungers instead of the fixed endplates. The plungers used in these columns are different from our standard plungers and are only rated to 15 psi (about 1 bar).

While these columns were first designed for use with softer media, they may certainly be used with any low pressure media.

Each soft-gel column includes 2 adjustable plungers, one for each end of the bed. Each plunger has a 10 µm mesh to support even the finest media. Each plunger has a capillary chamber extending down its shaft, eliminating dead volume and minimizing the void volume. The fluoroelastomer O-ring seals ensure that the 15 psi pressure rating is easily met.

The wetted materials in the aqueous columns are borosilicate glass, polypropylene, nylon, Viton® and Teflon®. The wetted materials in the organic columns are limited to borosilicate glass, Viton, and Teflon.
